God rest ye merry gentlemen,
Let nothing you dismay,
Remember, Christ, our savior was born on Christmas Day. O tidings of comfort and joy!

“Whenever I’m about to do something, I think, ‘would an idiot do that?’ And if they would, I do not do that thing.” — Dwight Schrute
Yet another brick project that I have been putting off for too long.
We poured 3.5″ of concrete as a base for our brick driveway. Up until now, we have always put the bricks directly onto firmly packed sand, but as a parking spot this will bear more weight.
Here I am sweeping the dry cement mixture into the spaces between the bricks (above). My wife, Shannon came up with this pinwheel mosaic (below).
And we lived happily ever after.
This is a great quote by Charles de Gaulle. It reminds me to step back and look at the bigger picture. It reminds me to focus on the things in life that are really important: my God, my family, and my relationships.
I had coffee with my friend, Scott, this morning. He reminded me to “be where you are”. I tend to get so caught up meeting my goals for the day, that I forget to enjoy it.
J. S. Bach appended the initials “SDG” to each of the manuscripts of his cantatas. “SDG” stands for Soli Deo Gloria which, in Latin, means “glory to God alone”. I agree with Bach that all good things come from God. He is the ultimate creator, and when little bits of His creativity flow through us, what can we say but, “Soli Deo Gloria!”
