In the vein of "Rustic Modern," I have been playing with the combination of wood and steel on some tables over the last year or so. Here are photos of some of my prototypes. This table was a custom order (above). The top is from reclaimed french oak wine staves. Welded steel base.
These two coffee table styles (above) are available at a store in Carmel, CA--Carmel Bay Company. One with a modern welded base, and the other with a wine barrel rack for its base. Both utilize old sign posts for their wooden tops.
And finally, this is a table I did a few years ago. The base was made from old propane tanks welded together on top of an old tractor disc. The top is reclaimed douglas fir.
